Entry Level NOC Analyst Summary:

The entry level Network Operations Center Analyst is an ideal role for individuals with minimal experience who are looking to enter Information Technology or networking. The Network Operations Center Analyst is responsible for monitoring and escalation of network, server, and facility issues. The entry level Network Operations Center Analyst will be responsible for issue identification, first level trouble shooting and escalation as necessary.   This individual utilizes support from technical experts within the organization and third parties to resolve problems and takes responsibility for handling incidents and following them through completion. Job duties also include documenting the problems encountered and techniques used for future reference.


Entry Level NOC Analyst Responsibilities:
  • Managing assigned ticketing queue
  • Professional, timely and detailed updates within all tickets assigned
  • Meet key service level metrics that will be monitored by the NOC manager
  • Follow specific rules of engagement per client
  • Properly set next steps for each ticket that allows for a client or NOC manager to identify the progress of each ticket
  • Utilize layer one troubleshooting to diagnose the problem
  • Be able to clearly communicate to a non-technical employee on finding and troubleshooting the equipment onsite
  • Be able to document and understand next steps based on your troubleshooting discoveries
  • Engage carrier for isolation and escalation
  • Follow the specified rules of engagement for each carrier
  • Consistently communicate the status to the end user affected
  • Consistently update the ticket with detailed status
  • Resolve or hand-off to Tier 2
  • If trouble resolved, documenting and closing the ticket out in a timely and detailed fashion


Entry Level NOC Analyst Desired Experience:
  • Industry certification (CCNA, CCENT, CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, etc)
  • 0-2 years within a service/help desk environment
  • College experience within an IT field
  • Trouble ticketing system experience
