  • The IT Project Manager  position is responsible for the management of large-scale, high organizational impact, Information Technology projects including managing deliverables, resources, status, and quality elements throughout the project life-cycle. These projects may span multiple functions, departments, and divisions.  The Project Manager acts as a single point of interface to the client, and the project team, for all resources, support services, vendors, and project sponsors.  For this role, the projects most often assigned are those that are major implementations or enterprise wide projects, or are projects of substantial complexity.  Examples include Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) implementations, hardware, network, or systems upgrade projects, affecting all or much of the organization, or the development or implementation of systems impacting the financial standing or overall welfare of the corporation.  The Senior Project Manager supports project visions and manages corresponding deliverables.  The Senior Project Manager maintains plans and schedules, facilitates meetings, drives project issues through to resolution, and assists analysts and developers as needed.  The Project Manager ensures that program scope is in line with enterprise goals.  This position requires at least 5-10 years of professional experience, with at least 3-5 years of Project Management experience.  This role has no direct reports, but will provide project task direction to project members.

    Position Responsibilities:

  • Identify the goals and scope of the project.  Identify the risks associated with the project.

  • Work with Department management to secure appropriate executive support of projects and appropriate funding of projects.  Work with Department management to determine the project budget.

  • Build a structured approach to successfully complete the project in the allotted time. Establish project standards. 

  • Develop and manage written project plans, including program schedules.  Effectively communicate those plans with all project team members, users, and other parties involved in the project.  Establish internal support for the methods used to complete the project.

  • Determine the personnel, capital resources, equipment, and tools needed to complete the project.

  • Proactively manage resource and scheduling issues.

  • Communicate project needs, goals, and milestones with appropriate IT Department Managers, Department Director, Senior Management and Team members.

  • Drive program issues through to resolution. Drive process improvement in the product development and delivery process.

  • Develop and maintain project charter.

  • Coordinate activities of cross-functional teams.

  • Concurrently manage multiple projects.

  • Ensure that meeting minutes, action items, and issues are documented and maintained

  • Manage change control procedures as well as define and maintain project scope.

  • Assist management with the recruitment, managing, and appraisal of resources. Develop skill sets of Project Managers.

  • Leads and facilitates vendor contract negotiations by providing comments and deliverables for such documents as Master Service Agreement, Service Level Agreement, Technical Hosting Descriptions, and other contractual documents.

    • At least 5-10 years of PeopleSoft HRMS experience (specifically with the HR and/or Benefits Administration modules)

    • Have served as Project Manager on at least 5 projects, for the full project life cycle

    • Proven ability to meet project deadlines and work effectively within time constraints.

    • Relevant industry knowledge of widely used systems and subsystems

    • Ability to identify and understand complex problems/issues and develop solutions

    • Proven ability to manage teams, and have demonstrated self-initiative and leadership skills.

    • Must possess a high degree of professional confidence and credibility with the presence and communication skills to represent IT related concepts effectively with senior level management

    • Proficiency in progress reporting methods and techniques;  risk management methods and techniques; project management tools to assist in  automating mechanical tasks such as scheduling, resource balancing, and time recording.

    • Proficiency in project planning and control techniques associated with planning and monitoring progress of projects. Examples: work breakdown structures, critical path analysis.

    • Experience with group facilitation

    • Ability to manage large-scale projects

    • Strong organizational and analytical skills

    • Ability to interpret business objectives and successfully incorporate those objectives into the project
