Job Summary and Scope: Briefly describe why the role exists and the scope of management responsibilities

The Sr. Microsoft Engineer plans and conducts technical tasks associated with the implementation of Windows based solutions within the data center while working with internal resources.  Conducts the technical tasks associated with the installation, implementation, support, and monitoring of the systems in complex environments assuring the timely and quality completion of the deliverables.   May work on multiple projects simultaneously.  Provides support for issue resolution, assessment of system environment readiness, and installation.   Provides recommendations on the process improvements related to implementation and support processes.  Will serve as primary engineer for hardware upgrade & installations to Microsoft.

  • Provide planning, and advanced technical expertise regarding computer and Microsoft services for both local and wide area Microsofts, including acting as a liaison to outsourced Microsoft providers both internal to us and 3rd party vendors.
  • Provided advanced troubleshooting, configuration and maintenance of complex systems, including assistance to customer technical resources.
  • Assess need for any Microsoft reconfigurations (minor or significant) and execute them as required in accordance with change control policy.
  • Coordinate Microsoft related implementation activities across various functional groups to help prioritize and schedule appropriate resources.
  • Partners with the business in planning, executing technical tasks such as conversions, interfaces, integration, issue resolution, and installation. 
  • Provides technical project management assuring that the milestones for the project are being met through mentoring internal and customers’ technical resources on the project.
  • Responsible for understanding future product strategy/direction as it relates to Microsofting and apply towards solutions development and ongoing product lifecycle.
  • Evaluates project for process improvements and makes recommendations in continuous quality improvement and leads the implementation of process changes and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Provides recommendations on the process improvements related to implementation processes and leads the efforts to create improvements
  • Provides mentoring and knowledge transfer to other Microsoft engineers, as needed.
  • Additional Responsibilites

    • Partners with Sr. engineers and the internal development teams to effectively manage updates to the Windows environments and the overall solution lifecycle.

Qualifications / Knowledge & Experience:  Briefly describe the knowledge, skills, demonstrated behaviors and experience required for entry into the position/role
  • Bachelor' s Degree (BS or BA) or exquv. Experience
  • 7-10 years’ experience in technology, including engineering support, architecture, design, implementation, and operations
  • Communication is a key attribute. Candidate must be able to communicate and support multiple teams and able to coordinate/communicate with others.
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of Windows Client and Server Operating systems included XP, Vista, Server 2003 & 2008, 2008R2, 2012, 2016 (32 and 64 Bit).
  • Strong knowledge and experience with SQL databases. 
  • Expert knowledge and understanding of operating systems, including devices and device drivers, file system concepts, volume management, performance analysis to tune systems, and system security.  Expert knowledge and experience with Active Directory implementation and maintenance. 
  • Strong understanding of networking and storage. Strong understanding of enterprise applications, database, and messaging solutions.
  • Experience working in a virtualized environment (VMWare).  
  • Expert understanding of the broader impact of work efforts across architectural system components, critical business processes and applications. Establishing technology directions and determining architectural approaches to achieve business needs. 
  • Strong knowledge of scripting. 
  • VMWare experience a plus
  • Experience with Cisco UCS Blade Technology a plus



Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE)

Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA)
