API Integration Director – (AI & B2B Payments)

The role of an API Integration Director with AI and B2B payments involves leading the strategy, development, and implementation of seamless, intelligent, and secure B2B payment solutions using advanced API and AI technologies. This person shapes how businesses worldwide transact by integrating payment capabilities into core enterprise systems like ERP, CRM, and P2P platforms. 
Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Vision & Roadmap: Define and drive the multi-year vision, strategy, and roadmap for B2B payment APIs, balancing developer experience, business impact, and technical excellence.
  • API Product Management: Lead a team to build, launch, and govern developer-facing products, ensuring APIs are intuitive, well-documented, secure, and optimized for performance.
  • AI Integration: Embed intelligent capabilities into the API platform, leveraging AI/ML for tasks such as automating integration workflows, powering intelligent developer tools, and generating predictive insights for clients.
  • Ecosystem Integration: Oversee the integration of payment solutions across a complex ecosystem of internal and external platforms, including banking, procurement, accounting, and expense management systems.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with sales, product, technology, architecture, security, and compliance leaders to align API capabilities with market needs and ensure enterprise-grade standards.
  • Developer Advocacy & Enablement: Act as a chief advocate for developers, creating world-class resources (SDKs, documentation, tutorials) and fostering an active developer community to accelerate adoption and integration.
  • Performance & Compliance Monitoring: Establish and track KPIs related to API adoption, performance, security, and compliance, implementing governance across the entire API lifecycle. 
Essential Skills and Qualifications
  • Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of API technologies (REST, GraphQL, webhooks), API gateway solutions, middleware (iPaaS), microservices architecture, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Domain Knowledge: Expertise in commercial/B2B payments, transaction processing, virtual cards, accounts payable/receivable systems, and ERP systems.
  • AI/ML Experience: Hands-on experience with AI/ML platforms, LLM APIs, autonomous agents, and integrating these capabilities into secure, scalable API solutions.
  • Leadership Skills: Exceptional leadership, analytical, problem-solving, and cross-functional stakeholder management skills.
  • Problem-Solving: The ability to diagnose business problems and develop accurate, repeatable solutions for clients and partners. 
  • Education/Certifications: A bachelor's degree in a technical field is common, with advanced degrees or relevant certifications often preferred
