Senior Microsoft 365 Engineer - Administrator Overview
The Senior Microsoft 365 Engineer - Administrator is responsible for the implementation, operations and maintenance of enterprise cloud solutions using Office 365 and related core technologies including Active Directory, Cloud Identities, Exchange, Teams, ADFS, AAD Connect, Intune and PowerShell. The person in this role will serve as the subject matter expert and advisor for projects related to Microsoft 365 services. Additionally, the administrator provides direct technical support in problem management, integration, and systems maintenance of the Office 365 and Azure tenancy.
 
This is a remote position in the U.S. with occasional travel to Nashville for in-person team gatherings typically held two times per year. #LI-Remote
 
Senior Microsoft 365 Engineer - Administrator Responsibilities
  • Serves as advisor and/or technical lead for projects either directly related to MS 365 or those with integrations with MS 365 and/or AD
  • Serves as technical lead for other MS services & applications to include Active Directory for servers and end user PCs and be responsible for work/project planning where a PM is not assigned
  • Serves as technical point of contact for MS vendor/partner
  • Conducts research, makes recommendations for new MS & closely related technologies and serve as our SME
  • Provides tier III/tier IV technical support
  • Administers Microsoft 365 services and integrations of applications
  • Troubleshoots and resolves technical problems
  • Develops, documents, and enforces the standards, security procedures, and controls for access to ensure the integrity of AD and related systems
  • Assesses diagnostic information and determines alternative courses of action
  • Research and recommend innovative, and where possible, automated approaches for anything related to software packaging and deployment
  • Provides guidance for configuration of endpoint protection and device restriction profiles
  • Ensure that incident tickets and outages are responded to and resolved in accordance with Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
  • Collaborates with internal and external departments to accomplish various tasks and projects; Interacts with executive-level business users or technical experts
  • Serve as subject matter expert in support of new solution discovery/recommendation
Senior Microsoft 365 Engineer - Administrator Qualifications
  • Associate degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Microsoft 365 Certification in Fundamentals and any additional role based associate or expert certification
  • 4+ years of Microsoft 365 administration experience for an organization of 800 end users or more
  • 3+ years of experience in all aspects of administration for the Microsoft Windows operating system
  • 3+ years of experience in administering Active Directory environments as well Azure AD (Entra ID)
  • Subject matter expertise Microsoft 365 and Azure AD / Entra ID
  • Proficient in Microsoft Intune software administration (software packaging, deployments, patching), device management/deployment via Autopilot, PowerShell, Entra Identity.
  • Strong knowledge of PC and Apple software configurations
  • Strong experience in PowerShell required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to speak directly and professionally
  • Engineering experience with technical expertise across large, complex implementations for enterprise systems.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows OS, macOS, Microsoft Office, and other standard enterprise applications
  • Strong relationship management, customer service, and communication skills through a variety of platforms
  • Ability to communicate technical information, both verbal and written to a wide range of end-users?
  • Experience researching, analyzing and interpreting automated system problems?
  • Technical documentation skills
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Excellent problem-solving ability
  • Travel, up to quarterly, for team meetings and events
