Job Description

Sr. VMware Engineer   Sr. VMware Engineer Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced VMware Engineer to serve as a resident specialist supporting a VMware migration project utilizing Zerto. In this role, you will play a critical part in the planning, execution, and validation of migration activities, ensuring a smooth and efficient transition with minimal disruption to business operations.
The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise in VMware advanced administration, proven experience with Zerto setup and configuration, and a strong ability to manage and execute migrations end-to-end.
Sr. VMware Engineer Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform vCenter validations of VMs identified for migration to new infrastructure platform.
  • Create migration documentation plans via excel.
  • Create Zerto protection groups and add appropriate VMs to the group.
  • Establish VM sync with Zerto.
  • Perform VM cutover on new vCenter instance.
  • Perform verifications and validations post VM cutovers.
  • Work with Lines of business to verify business application validations post cutover migrations.
  • Will need to be available to perform cutovers --> two (2) weekends per month.
  • Act as part of Client extended team member.
  • Participate in preparation meetings with team members.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • VMware Administration: Perform advanced VMware configuration, troubleshooting, and optimization to support migration activities.
  • Zerto Configuration: Set up and configure Zerto environments for migration projects, including creating protection groups and replication settings.
  • Migration Execution: Conduct migration cutovers, validate system performance post-migration, and ensure successful failover/failback processes.
  • System Setup: Provision and configure new virtual machines (VMs) to meet project requirements.
  • Validation & Testing: Perform thorough validations to ensure the stability, accuracy, and functionality of migrated systems.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, stakeholders, and project managers to coordinate migration timelines and activities.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed migration records, configuration changes, and procedural documentation.

Sr. VMware Engineer Required Skills & Experience:
  • VMware Advanced Administration – Proven hands-on expertise in managing and configuring VMware environments.
  • Zerto Setup & Configuration – Experience creating protection groups, managing replication, and performing migrations using Zerto.
  • Experience performing migration cutovers and validations in production environments.
  • Proficiency in setting up and configuring virtual machines.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve migration-related issues quickly.
  Sr. VMware Engineer Preferred Skills & Experience:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for migration tracking, reporting, and data analysis.
  • Experience with migration preparation and planning, including documentation and runbook creation.
  • Relevant VMware certifications (VCP, VCAP, or similar) highly preferred.
  Sr. VMware Engineer Ideal Candidate Profile: You are a highly skilled VMware Engineer who thrives in fast-paced, project-driven environments. You can work independently, manage critical migration timelines, and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders. You take pride in precision and thoroughness, ensuring migrations are executed with zero downtime and complete operational integrity.
